Bike repair maintenance for beginners Learn the basics of bike repair at home The bicycling guide Book 1 eBook Chris Amstrong

This book contains important information and sensible advice both for beginners and people like me whose knowledge is out of date or mediocre.
In reading this book I was taken back in memory to the time when I was 13 and a poorly maintained brake came off my bike and caught on the front wheel, stopping it completely. I was catapulted over the handlebars and hit the road surface very hard with my face. Fortunately I heal quickly.
A bicycle is an amazingly efficient invention, but it needs to be maintained properly. I recommend this book as a very good starting point to learning how to maintain both your own bicycle and those of your children.

Bike repair maintenance for beginners Learn the basics of bike repair at home The bicycling guide Book 1 eBook Chris Amstrong Reviews

Rather disappointing and simplistic with several omissions. No diagrams of bike parts of any kind, just a few photos of common tools. And underwhelming. . . at best.
Chris Amstrong opens this reader-friendly little book by sharing how he became a cyclist as young man his physician recommended exercise to treat his elevated blood sugar and blood pressure. New to the arena of bicycling he purchase a sued bike, learned by default how to maintain it and now shares that journey with the reader. Along with his own history he offers the history of bicycles dating back to the first one in 1817 - a short but entertaining bit of information.

The begins the meat of the book a description of all bike parts, how to approach each aspect of the bike to maintain and care for the bike, he offers photographs of the various instruments used in repairing bikes and in general makes the whole concept of bike care, maintenance and repair feel very much within the scope of every bike owner - beginner or not. He takes us through winterizing, ways to avoid damaging the braking mechanism, lubrication, rust prevention, uses and misuses of WD40, how to remove a wheel, how preserving your shock system, how to properly remove nuts and bolts from tight corners of a bike, and more.

For many this book may at first appear too simple - but check on the secrets of technique here and you'll likely find there are some important discoveries you never considered! Grady Harp, April 14
Not a single piece of advice that is of use to anyone who has ever seen a bike before. No diagrams, no 'how to' for any problems beyond 'if your brakes fail it's safer to not ride' kind of generic nonsense. Should have stopped at page 1. Free is too expensive for this book.
If you want an overview of bicycle history with a little help maintaining your bike this is good. There no illustration for maintaining your bike and only a brief description of how to do it. The only thing going for this publication is the price.
Great book for someone just beginning to ride and wants to keep their bike in good repair and when on road what to carry to fix little things.
This book is full of great information regarding bike repair. It gives a list of the tools needed to repair and maintain a bike. Even shows one how to properly store the tools. Keep in mind that this is a very basic book and it is really a book for someone who just needs basic info on how to do some repairs on a bike.

My favorite part is the section on how to lubricate a bike properly.
This book I found somewhat helpful in my own (older) bike.
It's okay. Didn't really learn anything I didn't know. It's okay as a starter book if you have NO knowledge of bike care, but I'm to the point I need a little bigger, in-depth book.
